Government fuel Bonanza

Your government continues to rip you off in tax and even tax on tax.

Another increase in fuel duty. Don't let the government kid you, duty is just another word for tax (see definitions below). Yes taxes are up again… and you are still paying tax on tax.

For every litre of petrol you buy the duty is now 56.19 pence. So here is what you pay at the pump based on the price per litres as shown for £10 of fuel.

When you pay £1.02 per litre, the fuel cost is £3.19, duty is £5.51 and VAT is £1.30 (83 pence of which is VAT on Duty !!!)

At £1.04 per litre, the fuel cost is £3.29, duty is £5.40 and VAT is £1.30 (81 pence of which is VAT on Duty !!!)

At £1.06 per litre, the fuel cost is £3.39, duty is £5.31 and VAT is £1.30 (80 pence of which is VAT on Duty !!!)

At £1.08 per litre, the fuel cost is £3.49, duty is £5.21 and VAT is £1.30 (78 pence of which is VAT on Duty !!!)

So your £10 of fuel actually costs you £3.19 to £3.49 and the rest is tax ! Including the VAT on the Duty !!!!
