They all cry, "Crucify!"
Pilate washed his hands
Some ask, "Why did he die?"
No one understands

Government fuel Bonanza
Your government continues to rip you off in tax and even tax on tax.
Another increase in fuel duty. Don't let the government kid you, duty is just another word for tax (see definitions below). Yes taxes are up again… and you are still paying tax on tax.
For every litre of petrol you buy the duty is now 56.19 pence. So here is what you pay at the pump based on the price per litres as shown for £10 of fuel.
When you pay £1.02 per litre, the fuel cost is £3.19, duty is £5.51 and VAT is £1.30 (83 pence of which is VAT on Duty !!!)
At £1.04 per litre, the fuel cost is £3.29, duty is £5.40 and VAT is £1.30 (81 pence of which is VAT on Duty !!!)
At £1.06 per litre, the fuel cost is £3.39, duty is £5.31 and VAT is £1.30 (80 pence of which is VAT on Duty !!!)
At £1.08 per litre, the fuel cost is £3.49, duty is £5.21 and VAT is £1.30 (78 pence of which is VAT on Duty !!!)
So your £10 of fuel actually costs you £3.19 to £3.49 and the rest is tax ! Including the VAT on the Duty !!!!
Definitions: (source: http://dictionary.cambridge.org/)
tax: money paid to the government, which is based on your income or of the cost of goods or services you have bought
duty: a tax paid to the government, especially on things that you bring into a country

A challenge to Gordon Brown
Gordon Brown said regarding the release of Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi:
“I was both angry and I was repulsed by the reception that a convicted bomber guilty of a huge terrorist crime received on his return to Libya."
He claimed he had no control over the decision saying it was a matter for the Scottish Government alone.
He blatantly refused to answer the question about what he thought of the release.
Gordon Brown, you are the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of great Britain and Northern Ireland (which still includes Scotland). How can a decision like this be made without your knowledge and consent?
The British people are entitled to an answer. What do you think of the release?
Stop hiding. Stop being a coward. Face up to your responsibility.
Answer the question!!

Nothing to blog about...except football
Nothing to blog about today......
Ok football..... Man City are spending big.... I think John Terry should sign... but perhaps Champions League football will keep him at Chelsea for another fruitless year.
Nancy boy has finally left English football....now he's a Real Nancy boy.... I tip Man Utd to knock him out of Europe... and then get stuffed themselves. My Euro tip next year...outsiders maybe, but Arsenal could surprise us all. Player of the tournament.... and the Premier League... Arshavin. And Champions? Well I think Liverpool will finally cast off the albatross from around their necks... with Arsenal and Man Utd and..... Man City filling the Champions League slots... and Terry rueing the decision to stay.
At the other end.... well Portsmouth WILL struggle unless the takeover happens, a manager is appointed quickly (Paul Hart should stay) and some players come in... and crucially Peter Crouch stays. I'd guess deals are in the melting pot behind the scenes... The deal falling through and lack of a quick appointment will see Portsmouth playing Southampton the following season. They will overturn the 10 point penalty the League has shafted them with.... and be promoted, maybe via the play-offs.
Final prediction... is that Cloughy will do the magic to see Derby somehow getting promoted...

MPs Expenses Outrage
MP's expenses must not be excessive and must be "wholly and necessarily incurred for the purpose of performing their parliamentary duties."
That’s a quaint phrase that HM Revenue and Customs (Inland Revenue) have twisted countless times to screw hard working people out of their hard earned cash disallowing expenditure as not "wholly and necessarily incurred" therefore increasing taxable income and taxes.... so that HM Government can screw us even more by claiming for dog food, horse crap, adult movies for their husbands and home improvements. Oh, but of course its not improvements....they are not allowed, so lets just lie and call them repairs (so we can increase the sale price).
Of course they all jump on the cross party band wagon and like limp fish stand in front of a camera and say "I haven't broken any rules....." Do me a favour....
They have screwed us mercilessly and laughed all the way (tax free....its expenses not income) to the bank.
What is so bad is that the really dodgy stuff has been allowed... a few tellings off, a few no you cant claim that's along the way but generally its been a case of "roll up guys.... grab a handful of cash but don't tell the public..." There's been a lot of "wholly and necessarily" that by any stretch of the imagination (and certainly by HM Revenue and Customs interpretation) are total and utter [unprintable.... spherical objects that dangle].
Don't mention the over claims.... what the hell has happened to the audit stage? No accountant worth their salt should let this all through....because they would be in danger of being struck off for malpractice (excommunicated from the profession), things like claiming council tax you never paid... or claiming the plumbing twice.
I'm not going to mention all the flipping... flipping nuisances the lot of them.
This government has had over 10 years to fix this... They came in on a wave of righteous indignation, saying they would be whiter than white and no more sleaze... Trouble is when it came to the gravy train, the fabled pot at the end of the rainbow, the cash machine spewing out free cash like lots of tiny Jonah's they didn't change anything because as true Socialists (yeh right!) they stuffed their pockets and mattresses (several in some cases).
And why is this coming to light? Because of their own freedom of information legislation... which they shamelessly tried to fix to exclude the publication of their own expenses because they knew all that horse crap would hit the fan... and they want to stitch someone up for leaking the information.... well MPs you got a leak...call a plumber... but you can only claim once and only if "wholly and necessarily".....
If anyone else had even tried to claim some of what they have... we would be out of work and possibly facing prosecution for fraud (obtaining money by deception).....Oh how clumsy of me.... they weren't being deceptive...."I was just following the rules, honest guv"...
Honest guv? Give us an honest government....... sack the lot and start again.

Comment on Sermon 10/05/2009
I posted the following comment to Tom Kennar's sermon on "The Vine" on http://tomkennar.blogspot.com
What struck a chord with me initially was the comment "...we have spent rather too much time begging for mercy, and asking for forgiveness, and not nearly enough time embracing the Life of the Vine". For me this strikes at the heart of faith.
If God is omnipotent and all powerful then he is BIG enough to forgive all our sins. Our problem all too often is that we cannot accept this... we are stubborn. It is not that God does not forgive but that our guilt stops us accepting the words "by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God" (Eph 2:8-9).
We are 'the body of Christ' and should live and work and worship in communion with our fellow believers. This is all embracing; living, breathing... we are branches of the vine which is Christ and our fruit will multiply only if we are rooted and grounded in Him... for as you concluded apert from Jesus, we can do nothing.
